About Saaremaa Art Studio

Variety of Activities
Saaremaa Art Studio has provided art education to children, youth and adults since 1992. Since 2004 it holds a respective education licence issued by the Estonian Ministry of Education and Research. During 19 years approximately 5000 people of various ages have attended over 100 art courses of different types in the Studio. The Studio has organised 184 art exhibitions of which 26 have been of international scope and 6 international art workshops and camps. The teachers of the Studio are all art professionals with higher education (textile, ceramics, fashion and design, glass, painting and drawing, art history, architecture, composition).

Objectives
The objective of the Art Studio is promoting art education in various fields of art and developing practical skills through creative activities. Next to it, we organise art exhibitions, sale of art, courses, lectures, workshops, symposiums to people of different ages and interest.

Experiences
Saaremaa Art Studio has provided art education and training to mentally challanged adults (art therapy), to learners at risk of social exclusion under EU adult training programmes. Elderly people are a regular target group for art activities in the Studio.

The Art Studio has organised several international big-scale events and workshops in line with arranging all required subsidiary services (e.g. Land-Art Symposium “Open Circle” 2001; Latvian artists in Saaremaa 2003-2004; Workshop for Belgian art teachers 2005; Workshop for art teachers from Finland 2007). The Studio has also carried out a number of international exhibitions, workshops and other events.
